We ship orders on safe shipping days, monitor weather conditions, use insulated packaging, and adjust supplies like heat packs or ice packs when needed. The goal is to reduce stress during transit and give your shrimp the best chance of arriving healthy and active.

Because live shrimp are sensitive to temperature, delays, and handling, we may hold or delay shipments when conditions are not safe. These decisions are made to protect your shrimp and help ensure the best possible arrival.

    Live shrimp orders ship Monday through Wednesday to help avoid weekend delays and unnecessary time in transit.

    We monitor temperatures at both our location and your delivery address before shipping live shrimp.

    Orders are packed with insulation and temperature protection when needed to help keep shrimp safe during transit.

    Plan to bring your package inside as soon as possible and make sure your aquarium is cycled, stable, and ready.

🗓️ Shipping Schedule

To help avoid weekend delays, live shrimp orders are shipped Monday through Wednesday only. This helps keep your shrimp moving through the carrier system without sitting in transit longer than necessary.

Orders placed later in the week will usually be scheduled for the following Monday or Tuesday, depending on weather, order volume, and safe shipping conditions.

If we need to delay shipment because of weather or other safety concerns, we will do so with your shrimp’s well-being in mind.

🌡️ Weather & Temperature Guidelines

Freshwater shrimp are sensitive to extreme temperatures, so we check weather conditions before shipping. We look at temperatures near our location, your delivery address, and the expected time your package may spend in transit.

If conditions are unsafe, we may hold or delay your order until shipping is safer. Weather holds are done to protect your shrimp and give them the best chance of arriving healthy and active.

  • ❄️ Winter Shipping

    Heat packs may be used when temperatures are between 20°F–31°F.

    If temperatures are 19°F or below, orders may be held until conditions improve. Insulated packaging is used during cold weather to help protect your shrimp.

  • 🔥 Summer Shipping

    Ice packs may be used when temperatures are between 90°F–105°F.

    If temperatures reach 105°F or higher, orders may be held until conditions improve. Insulated packaging is used during hot weather to help protect your shrimp.

📦 Shipping Methods

We choose shipping methods based on weather, transit safety, and what gives your shrimp the best chance of arriving healthy. The carrier and service level may vary depending on conditions at the time your order is ready to ship.

  • 📬 Standard Shipping

    USPS may be used for standard live shrimp shipping when weather conditions are safe and normal transit times are expected.

  • ⚡ Overnight Shipping

    UPS Next Day Air or FedEx Overnight may be used during more sensitive shipping conditions when faster transit is needed to help protect the shrimp.

🦐 How We Pack Your Shrimp

Every live shrimp order is packed with care using supplies chosen to help protect your shrimp during transit. Our goal is to reduce stress, support oxygen exchange, and help your shrimp arrive safely.

Depending on the weather and shipping conditions, orders may include an insulated shipping box, breather bag, heat pack or ice pack when needed, and netting inside the bag so shrimp have something to hold onto during the trip.

We also include helpful arrival information such as a care card, recommended water parameters, acclimation guidance, and a drip acclimation kit to help your shrimp transition safely into their new aquarium.

We proudly offer a Live Arrival Guarantee for live shrimp orders when the proper steps are followed. If shrimp arrive deceased inside the unopened shipping bag, we want the process to be clear, fair, and easy to understand.

  • 📸 Prompt Documentation

    Clear photos or a short video of any DOA shrimp must be submitted within 2 hours of the first delivery attempt. Photos must show the shrimp inside the original unopened bag.

  • 📦 Proper Handling Upon Arrival

    DOA coverage may be limited or void if the package is left outside in unsafe temperatures, missed after delivery, or not picked up promptly from the carrier facility.

🚚 Before Your Shrimp Arrive

A little preparation before delivery can make a big difference. Before your shrimp ship, make sure your aquarium is cycled, stable, and ready so your shrimp can be acclimated safely when they arrive.

  • 🌡️ Check Local Weather

    Keep an eye on extreme heat, cold, storms, or known carrier delays in your area before your shrimp are scheduled to ship.

  • 🏠 Be Ready for Delivery

    Plan to bring your package inside as soon as possible. Live shrimp should not sit outside in hot, cold, or unsafe conditions.

  • 💧 Prepare Your Aquarium

    Make sure your tank is fully cycled, stable, and ready before your shrimp arrive. Check temperature, pH, GH, KH, and TDS ahead of time.

  • 🦐 Review Acclimation

    Review the acclimation process before delivery day so you are ready to slowly and safely introduce your shrimp to their new aquarium.
